Privacy Policy
Stags is operated by Stags LLC (“Stags,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Stags app and mystags.co, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Stags is offered to adults in the United States, in the Washington, DC area.
1. What we collect
Application and account. When you apply, we collect your name, email address, date of birth (to confirm you are at least 18), a profile photo that shows your face, your answers to the application questions (why you want to join and how you heard about Stags), the neighborhood you choose from our list, and, if you use one, an invite code.
Profile. The bio, occupation, interests, lifestyle tags, and photos you add to your profile.
Activity. Plans you post or RSVP to, posts and replies on the Lodge, group chats you join, messages you send to other members, and reports you file or that are filed about you.
Billing. Membership is billed by Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play), or Stripe (on the web). They collect your payment details. We receive confirmation of your plan, subscription status, and renewal dates. We never receive or store your full card number. Tickets for ticketed events are bought through the payment link on the event; the payment processor collects your card details and we receive confirmation of the purchase.
Device and usage. Device type, operating system, app version, push notification token, IP address, log and crash data, and which features you use.
Location. We do not collect precise GPS location. The Near me filter uses the neighborhood you selected, not your device location.
2. How we use it
We use this information to run Stags: to review applications, build and display your profile, show you plans and groups, deliver messages, and record RSVPs. We use it to bill and renew your membership, and to send you transactional email and push notifications — application status, event reminders and confirmations, payment problems, and renewal notices. You can turn off non-essential notifications in the app.
We use your profile to suggest members and plans you overlap with (the “You both…” reasons you see in the app). We show you the reasons, not a score, and we never rank members by their lifestyle tags.
We use it to keep the club safe: to investigate reports, enforce the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and block, suspend, or remove accounts. We use aggregated usage data to improve the app, and we use information as needed to comply with law and protect Stags, our members, and others.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for targeted advertising. Local Partner placements in the app are labeled and are not based on tracking you.
3. What other members see
Only approved members can see the directory. Approved members can see your name, age, neighborhood, occupation, member-since date, bio, photos, interests, lifestyle tags, the plans you post, your RSVPs (Going and Interested), and your posts and replies on the Lodge. Messages are visible only to the members you send them to. Your email address, date of birth, application answers, and billing details are never shown to other members.
4. Who we share it with
Service providers that work for us under contract and may only use your information to provide their service: Adalo (app platform and database hosting), Make (workflow automation), Stripe (web payments), Apple and Google (in-app billing and push notifications), IAPHUB (subscription status), Postmark (email delivery), and analytics and crash-reporting providers.
Other members, as described in Section 3.
Legal and safety. We may share information to comply with law, a subpoena, or a lawful request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Stags, our members, or the public.
Business transfers. If Stags LLC sells or transfers Stags, your information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except for records we need to keep: billing records, records of reports and enforcement actions, and anything subject to a legal hold. Messages you sent may remain in the recipient's thread.
6. Your choices
You can edit your profile and notification settings in the app at any time. You can cancel your membership through the App Store, Google Play, or the Stripe customer portal, depending on where you subscribed; your access continues through the end of the period you paid for. You can delete your account from Settings in the app or by emailing support@mystags.co. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at the same address. Marketing email includes an unsubscribe link; transactional messages about your account continue while you are a member.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, email support@mystags.co.
8. Age
Stags is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
9. Changes and contact
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Questions and requests go to support@mystags.co or to Stags LLC, Washington, DC.
